Some dislike this sour vegetable very much, other \u2013 like me \u2013 love it. I love to drink Rhubarb <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Schorle\" target=\"_blank\">Schorle<\/a> in the summer or eat rhubarb in cakes, with pancakes or \u2013 really simple \u2013 as compote.<\/p>\n<p>The oven roasted rhubarb I made two times last year: one time as a filling for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hefe-und-mehr.de\/en\/2012\/05\/windbeutel-mit-vanille-rhabarber-kompott\/\" target=\"_blank\">cream puffs<\/a> and one time for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hefe-und-mehr.de\/en\/2012\/05\/rhabarber-cremeschnitten\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rhubarb Napoleons<\/a>. Both times I was completely stunned by the taste of the compote.<\/p>\n<p>During roasting in the oven, the rhubarb develops a deep caramel flavour which is nicely underlined by the vanilla flavour while the tart taste is well balanced with sugar.<\/p>\n<p>This time I served it only with some whipped cream, a simple but perfect dessert for spring!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Oven roasted Rhubarb<\/span><\/h1>\n<ul>\n<li>1 kg rhubarb<\/li>\n<li>100g sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 big vanilla bean<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Peel the rhubarb if needed and cut it into fine slices and place it together with sugar and vanilla pod in a ovenproof bowl.<\/p>\n<p>Bake at 175\u00b0C for 40 min until soft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opinions are divided over Rhubarb.
