Some month ago the sister of my dearest and me agreed to bake a wedding cake for some friends of her. And so we spent a lot of time on pinterest, collecting ideas and inspiration.
Slowly a plan for the decoration emerged and finally we had a plan for the cakes as well: Punch torte, Nussnougat-Quark-Cake and Sacher Torte would be the perfect cakes. We baked some tiny test cakes for the bride and the groom, they tried them and liked them, too. Especially the punch torte was a favourite. And as we changed this recipe quite a lot it deserved its own recipe.
My little sister married end of april. And to my great joy she asked me if I would bake the wedding cake.
After talking a little bit with her and my (then still future) brother in law we decided that I bake a three tired wedding cake consisting of a raspberry white chocolate torte (28 cm diameter), a Sachertorte (24 cm diameter) and a lactoste free vanilla cream torte (18 cm diameter).
I calculated that I would need two days to make the cake: one for baking the raspberry white chocolate torte and the vanilla cream torte and one for decoration. Our Mum baked the Sachertorte after the recipe of Oma Bucholtz (fund at Schnuppschüss) 10 days before the wedding because this cake needs a long rest before serving.
For the Rollfondant for the wedding cake I used the recipe I found in “advanced bread and pastry” from Michael Suas. Its can be made using a kitchen machine – something I like very much because it saves me from kneading a sticky sugar dough with my hands.
When my cousin told in august that she would marry in October I offered happily that I could bake the wedding cake. Maybe I was jumping up and down and asked “Can I bake the cake, can I bake the cake”, too.
Groom and Bride like the Idea and so I started to search the web for Inspiration. Finding a cake topper that fits in the budget was not easy. I liked a stylized Couple in white but this was to modern for my cousin and her fiancé. They wished for something more romantic. So I search the web for inspiration and fell in love with this cake. But for this cake I had to do the Cake Topper by myself. So I bough Polymer clay and start to model a wedding couple. This was easier then I thought.
